Target: BURG BEI MAGDEBURG GERMANY Airfield (147 aircraft) - (52.253, 11.9096)

Built in 1937, screened from the air by a pine forest arose hangars, workshops and accommodations. During the invasion of Poland Burg was used by Ju 52 transport planes. Runways were lengthened in 1943 for the long-range He177 bomber. In 1944, the first operational jet bomber, the Arado Ar234, was stationed here. Unmanned aerial bombs were also tested here. At the end of the war, the Me 262 was used at Burg. On 10 April 1945, bombing by the USAAF 8th Air Force destroyed 85 percent of the base. A day later, American forces arrived to occupy the area. Handed over to the Soviets, the base was dismantled and parts removed to the USSR.
