One of the four original motor vehicle manufacturers that were amalgamated into Audi in 1932 (Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer), Horch began in Cologne in 1901. In 1904, a factory was built in Zwickau, Saxony. During the war, all civilian production stopped for the military purposes. After the war, the Soviets dismantled and removed the factory to the USSR as part of Germany's reparations.
