Target: FRANKFURT GERMANY Airfield (65 aircraft) - (50.1352, 8.55199)

Built 1937 - 1939. Initially a large grass field, the greass was kept short by a small herd of sheep. A control tower and five large hangars were all built from brick near the flying field. It was used as a training site for assault gliders, then as an interceptor base. Captured by US forces on 30 March 1945, it was used by the 367th and 371st Fighter Groups. A POW camp was built for about 1000 prisoners. Today only one hangar remains, in a very derellict state. The former airfield is now the Arboretum Main-Taunus.
